When I first submitted my trademark application for The Gap App, I assumed it would be a simple process. What I didn’t expect was that The GAP clothing company would challenge my filing. At first, I was puzzled — after all, my mission has nothing to do with selling clothing.
But like any large brand, they sought to protect any trademark containing the word “GAP.” What followed was months of delay and legal back-and-forth.
Eventually, when they fully understood my mission — to bridge the gap between generations, strengthen family bonds, and address the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation facing so many Americans today — they graciously allowed my trademark to proceed without conflict.
